Hello! My name is Jessica Allebach. I'm a history major and writing studies minor here at Millersville University and plan to graduate in May (yay!) of this year. I'm from Hershey and commute to school, as it's only about a forty minute drive. I'm currently working as a waitress and part-time nanny while not at school. I love spending time with my family - I'm the oldest of four siblings. I also enjoy reading, accomplishing diy projects, baking, blogging, photography, children, and traveling. The picture is above is one of me in Haiti. I spent 2 weeks there in June and hope to go back soon! It was a life-changing experience.
I love photography, so this class seems fascinating to me. I am currently looking into children's photography as at least a part-time career path. I've practiced on many children and I simply love it. I'm saving up for a better camera and would like to take some classes specifically on lighting and editing. Capturing the fleeting moments of childhood is something I see as incredibly important. I'm also doing a project this year called the 365 project. The goal is to take one picture a day for an entire year - a way to look back and see your year in pictures. I think that this class will aid me in understanding photography more than I do and I'm looking forward to it. My favorite photographer is any that focus on children, especially in their natural state and not cooped up in a studio in front of a backdrop.
